Maintaining a high temperature is critical for rapid composting. This compost thermometer is a great way to keep an eye on your compost and ensure that bacteria are working at an optimal temperature. Save time and avoid doing unnecessary turning or tumbling.
 Bacteria are responsible for breaking down food scraps. These bacteria work best at 120 to 160 degrees Fahrenheit, and they need fresh oxygen without being exposed to too much cold air. With this compost thermometer, you can tell when the compost is cooling down, and only turn the pile when it needs fresh air.  The thermometer will also help prevent scalding and show you when the compost is finished. For very large compost piles, there's a risk of spontaneous combustion. You certainly don't want to put your hand into 180 degree compost without any warning - this compost thermometer can reach deep into the compost pile and help you spot danger signs.

At the end of its life, this product can be re-used, re-filled or serve another purpose.
